Tim Rogers And Tony Mott Join The 2017 A Rock & Roll Writers Festival Programme

Tim Rogers
National Music Editor, based in Brisbane, Australia.
'Passionate about true crime docos, the Swannies, golf and sleep, I’ve been writing about music for 20-plus years. What I’ve learnt? There’s two types of music – good and bad.’

After the success of the inaugural event earlier this year, The Rock & Roll Writers Festival returns to Brisbane in 2017 (1-2 April) boasting an even bigger line-up and new venue.

Legendary rock photographer Tony Mott and rock & roll icon Tim Rogers have been added to the bill that already featured: Holly George-Warren (USA), Nick Earls, Sophie Howarth, Hugo Race, Cash Savage, Mike Noga.

Other new additions to the programme include: Kirsty Eager, Liam Pieper, Melissa Lucashenko, Peggy Frew, Iain Shedden, Larry Heath, Michael Dwyer, Rod Yates, Sosefina Fuamoli and Zan Rowe.

Australia’s first – and only – literary festival devoted to exploring and celebrating the relationship between writing and music, and that special creative spark that exists between the two, The Rock & Roll Writers Festival in 2017 moves to the new locale of The Old Museum.

“I was delighted to be part of this inaugural event, to share conversations with songwriters, authors and journalists and to enjoy the robust and public exchange of ideas,” Deborah Conway says.

“As a model I haven’t encountered one like it before but the underlying benefits of elevating the art of popular songwriting alongside other written art forms is to generate more discourse which, as a songwriter I naturally welcome.”
