A concept that first sprang to life in 2019 with a run of Sydney shows before the pandemic took over, All Our Exes Live In Texas' Georgia Mooney is returning to her Supergroup project and she's invited a host of Australia's best musicians to join her onstage for a series of live shows.
Georgia Mooney's Supergroup promises a 'beautiful mish-mash of Australia's favourite songwriters' who'll come together seated in a semi-circle to create the ultimate songwriter's session – playing songs, collaborating, telling stories and much more.Each night will feature a different set of musicians, including Tim Minchin, Josh Pyke, Ball Park Music's Sam Cromack, Ngaiire, Middle Kids' Hannah Joy and Mo'Ju, featuring an unscripted set list to make each performance a truly one-off event.
That's only the tip of the iceberg with Maple Glider, Bob Evans, Martha Marlow, Ruby Gill, Hope D, Jeremy Neale, Elizabeth, KYE, Ryan Downey, Seja and Butterfingers' Evil Eddie also signed up.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to bring Supergroup back to the stage and to take it on the road," Georgia says.
"This line-up features some of my favourite songwriters in the world. It's such a joy combining artists who don't normally share the stage.
"I've never had more fun on stage than I do with Supergroup. There is something quite magical about it. It is communal and whimsical, and musical in the purest sense.
"I have a feeling this tour will take that to a new level. It's going to feel incredibly poignant to connect again in this way, after the two years we've all had."
Backed by Supergroup House Band (featuring some of the finest session players going around), these shows will merge the musical prowess of 'RocKwiz' with the charm of 'Spicks And Specks'.
