Australian artist Tim Minchin is going back to where it all started with his next national tour.

The award winning, globetrotting singer-songwriter, pianist, comedian, actor, and musical-theatre composer-lyricist will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his hit show 'Dark Side' with the Songs The World Will Never Hear tour.

The tour will feature headline concerts in Melbourne (x2), Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra (x3), Perth, Newcastle, Sydney, Gold Coast and Toowoomba in November-December.

"Twenty years ago, 'Dark Side' took me from tiny cabaret rooms to the West End of London," Tim says. "In the years since then, I've pushed the boat out in as many directions as possible. . . and I've only been able to do so because of my fans.

"They've never flinched as I've turned corners and reinvented myself, always engaging open-heartedly with whatever I have to offer. I'm the luckiest artist on the planet and I can't wait to be back touring my home country with a big joyous show, spanning my whole bloody mad career."

The new show will see Tim dig deep into his nearly 30-year career to perform songs – from comedy classics to tear-jerking Christmas songs – as well as telling stories that helped shape how a Perth cabaret pianist ended up building one of the most eclectic and extraordinary careers in entertainment.

Alongside his music credentials, Tim is also the composer-lyricist of smash-hit stage musicals 'Matilda' and 'Groundhog Day', a screenwriter of the award-winning 'Upright', in which he stars alongside Milly Alcock ('House Of The Dragon'), and a screen actor, Atticus Fetch in 'Californication' one of his more notable roles.

Last week, Minchin shared his new single 'Ruby', which will feature on his forthcoming album 'TimMinchinTimeMachine', set for release 25 July (pre-order it).

"Twenty years ago, when I fell into comedy, I put my hopes of a recording career on the shelf," Tim shares. "After 2020's 'Apart Together', I started thinking about properly producing some of the tunes I wrote in my prolific-but-obscure 20s.

"I was just going to leak these tunes without fanfare, but when BMG heard them, they convinced me that they deserved an album of their own. Young-me would be very stoked indeed to see this project live."

Tickets on sale from 11am (local time) on 11 April.
