This week's album chartifacts

#1: Machine Gun Kelly ‘Mainstream Sellout’ – Machine Gun Kelly takes out his first #1 album on the ARIA Charts as he debuts in the top spot with 'Mainstream Sellout'. It’s the sixth album from the American pop-punk/hip hop star, coming less than two years on from 'Tickets To My Downfall' (#2 October ’20). The new album includes collaborations with Lil Wayne, Pete Davidson, Blackbear, Willow Smith and was produced by Blink-182’s Travis Barker. Current single ‘Maybe’, a collaboration with British act Bring Me The Horizon, sits at #38 on this week’s Singles Chart.
#2: Michael Bublé ‘Higher’ – Canadian crooner Michael Bublé scores his ninth Top Two album on the ARIA Charts, debuting at #2 with 'Higher'. Bublé’s eleventh album is his first since 'Love' (#2 November ’18). Higher includes a version of Paul McCartney's ‘My Valentine’ produced by McCartney himself, plus a duet with Willie Nelson and covers of tracks by Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, and Barry White. Bublé has previously topped the ARIA Charts with Michael Bublé (#1 May ’04), 'Call Me Irresponsible' (#1 May ’07), 'Crazy Love' (#1 October ’09), 'Christmas' (#1 December ’11) and 'To Be Loved' (#1 April ’13).
#4: Foo Fighters ‘Greatest Hits’ – The 2009 'Greatest Hits' album from the Foo Fighters has stormed up the chart from #38 to #4 following the sudden passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins on 25 March at the age of 50. Hawkins played on all seven of the American group’s studio albums that have reached #1 on the ARIA Charts, most recently 'Medicine At Midnight' (#1 February ’21).
#6: Xavier Rudd ‘Jan Juc Moon’ – Singer-songwriter Xavier Rudd claims his seventh Top Ten as he debuts at #6 with 'Jan Juc Moon'. Rudd’s tenth album is his first new release since 'Storm Boy' (#8 June ’18). It continues Rudd’s run of Top Tens that started with 'White Moth' (#6 June ’07).
#10: Placebo ‘Never Let Me Go’ – Returning with their first album in almost a decade, British band Placebo debut at #10 with 'Never Let Me Go'. The follow-up to 'Loud Like Love' (#9 September ’13) becomes their fourth Top Ten album. It’s the first Placebo album recorded as a duo, following the departure of drummer Steve Forrest in 2015.
