Welcome to This Week In Pop.

This week, Taylor Swift is on the top of the Albums Chart for a second week, while Mariah Carey dominates with a #1 repeat.

This week's album chartifacts

#1: Taylor Swift ‘evermore’ – Taylor Swift’s 'evermore' holds #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for a second straight week. It gives the American singer-songwriter a combined six weeks in the top spot in 2020. The album’s CD edition hit shelves in the week leading up to Christmas.
#3: Delta Goodrem ‘Only Santa Knows’ – Delta Goodrem’s 'Only Santa Knows' tops the list of Christmas albums on this week’s chart. Other festive season albums include Michael Bublé’s 'Christmas' (#4), Mariah Carey’s 'Merry Christmas' (#11) and Robbie Williams’ 'The Christmas Present' (#18).
#6: Paul McCartney ‘McCartney III’ – Debuting at #6, Paul McCartney shows how he spent his lockdown with the release of 'McCartney III'. Like 'McCartney' (1970) and 'McCartney II' (1980), the new album was written, played and produced by McCartney with minimal outside assistance. The 18th solo album for the Beatles and Wings legend gives him his second Top Ten album in three years, coming on the back of 'Egypt Station' (#4 September ’18). It’s #4 on this week’s Vinyl Albums Chart.
#7: Eminem ‘Music To Be Murdered By’ – Eminem’s 'Music To Be Murdered By' returns to the Top 50 at #7 for the first time since July on the back of the surprise release of a deluxe edition. The bonus disc includes collaborations with Dr Dre, Ty Dolla Sign, Skylar Grey and more. 'Music To Be Murdered By' topped the chart in its debut week back in January of this year.
#9: King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard ‘K.G.’ – Following the release of the album on vinyl, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s K.G. returns to the chart and nabs a new peak at #9. The Melbourne band’s 16th studio album becomes their eleventh Top Ten album and their fourth Top Ten of 2020 after 'Live in Adelaide' '19 (#6 January ’20), 'Live in Paris '19' (#9 January ’20) and 'Chunky Shrapnel' (#2 July ’20). The latter album won Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album at the 2020 ARIA Awards.
