This week, Ed Sheeran returns to #1 on the Singles Chart and claims a chart record: '÷' reaches seven weeks on the Albums Chart. This is getting ridiculous, Ed! Give someone else a chance!

This week's album chartifacts

#1: Ed Sheeran ‘÷’ – Week seven at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart for Ed Sheeran’s '÷'. It’s the sixth week in 2016 that Sheeran has topped both charts.
#2: Kendrick Lamar ‘Damn.’ (debut) – Two years on from topping the ARIA Albums Chart with 'To Pimp A Butterfly' (#1 March ’15), Kendrick Lamar returns with 'Damn.'. The American rapper’s fourth album features the single 'Humble.' (#2 April ’17) as well as appearances by Rihanna and U2. Lamar charted last year with the outtakes compilation untitled unmastered. (#3 March ’16).
#3: Mark Vincent ‘A Tribute To Mario Lanza’ (debut) – Sydney tenor Mark Vincent scores his fourth top ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart with 'A Tribute To Mario Lanza'. The album sees Vincent singing tracks made famous by singer/actor Mario Lanza. Vincent last hit the top ten with 'Songs From The Heart' (#10 October ’11).
#5: John Mayer ‘The Search For Everything’ (debut) – With his seventh studio album, singer-songwriter John Mayer picks up his sixth top ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart. 'The Search For Everything' is Mayer’s first studio release since 'Paradise Valley' (#1 September ’13) and features contributions from Sheryl Crow and Beach Boy Al Jardine, among others.

#1: Ed Sheeran ‘Shape Of You’ – After dropping to #2 for a week, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ returns to the top spot to claim it’s record-breaking fourteenth week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The track overtakes Coolio’s ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ (#1 October ’95) as the longest-running #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart (the ARIA Charts era covers July 1983 to present).
#2: Kendrick Lamar ‘Humble.’ – A jump of five spots gives Kendrick Lamar his first top five single on the ARIA Charts. With parent album 'Damn.' debuting at #2 this week, Lamar has also scored three new entries in the singles chart: ‘DNA.’ (#16), ‘Loyalty’ (#20) and ‘Love.’ (#29).
#6: Clean Bandit Feat. Zara Larsson ‘Symphony’ – In its fifth week in the top 50, ‘Symphony’ continues its steady climb up the chart, moving a further three spots to #6.
