Welcome to This Week In Pop.
This week, Christmas may be over but the ARIA Charts tell a different story, as Christmas songs take out 9 of the top 10 singles this week, including Mariah Carey’s 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' back at #1.
Despite being pipped at the post for the Christmas week chart last week, this is Mariah’s sixth year in a row reaching #1 with the track during the Christmas season. Brenda Lee’s 'Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree' scores #2, Wham! land at #3 with 'Last Christmas', Michael Bublé takes #4 with 'It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas', while Ariana Grande rounds out the top 5 with 'Santa Tell Me'.
The only non-Christmas song to break the top 10 is Jack Harlow's 'Lovin On Me' at #7, down from #1 last week.
On the Albums Chart, Taylor Swift’s '1989 (Taylor’s Version)' holds at #1 for the ninth consecutive week, after becoming the longest running #1 album of 2023 last week.
Michael Bublé’s 'Christmas' climbs from #4 to match its 2022 peak at #2. It first hit #1 in 2011 and has been back there another five times, for a grand total of 15 weeks on top.
