#1: Luke Combs ‘What You See Is What You Get’ – US country singer Luke Combs scores his first #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with his second album, 'What You See Is What You Get'. His debut, 'This One’s For You', took a year and one day to reach a peak of #7 in March 2019. Combs’ latest effort features collaborations with country superstars Eric Church and Brooks & Dunn.#2: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds ‘Ghosteen’ – Buoyed by a physical release, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ 17th studio album ‘Ghosteen’ reaches a new peak after disappearing from the Albums Chart in the four weeks since it debuted at #7. This is now the band’s ninth album to reach the Top 5. It’s also #1 on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.
#7: George Michael & WHAM! ‘Last Christmas - The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’ – The late George Michael returns to the Top 50 with a collection of songs spanning his career as a solo artist and as half of pop duo WHAM!, plus previously unreleased solo track ‘This Is How (We Want You To Get High)’. Michael’s first posthumous release to enter the chart, this festive movie soundtrack follows the last LP released during his lifetime, live album 'Symphonica' (#11 March ‘14).
#8. Six60 ‘Six60 (3)’ – Having achieved unprecedented success in their home country of New Zealand, Six60 are seeing their appeal cross the ditch as they score their first entry in the Top 50 Albums Chart with their third studio album, 'Six60 (3)'.
This week's single chartifacts
#1: Tones And I ‘Dance Monkey’ – Tones And I breaks the record for most weeks spent at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. ‘Dance Monkey’, which is only her second single, breaks Ed Sheeran’s record of 15 weeks with 'Shape Of You', which has stood since 2017, and is the first Australian single to hold this record since the ARIA Charts began in 1983.#2: Maroon 5 ‘Memories’ – In its eighth week on the Singles Chart, ‘Memories’ rises two spots to a new peak. The band’s only previous single to better this position was ‘She Will Be Loved’ (#1 September ‘04).
#5. Arizona Zervas ‘Roxanne’ – Arizona Zervas is the latest singer to parlay viral popularity into chart success, arriving in the Top 50 for the first time. Writing and producing all his own music, the independent artist and US native has steadily built a loyal following, with ‘Roxanne’ being used in over 320,000 TikTok videos to date.
#6: Dua Lipa ‘Don’t Start Now’ – Fresh from an acclaimed performance at the MTV EMAs, English singer Dua Lipa rises two spots to equal the success of her first Singles Chart entry, ‘Be The One’ (#6 May ‘16). The 2019 ARIA Awards performer has also scored Top Ten hits with ‘New Rules’ (#2 September ‘17) and ‘IDGAF’ (#3 April ‘18).
