Welcome to This Week In Pop.

This week, ABBA take out #1 on the Albums Chart, while Elton and Dua hold the #1 single for a second week.

This week's album chartifacts

#1: ABBA ‘Voyage’ – Music legends ABBA take out their first #1 in Australia in nearly 30 years as they return with 'Voyage'. The quartet’s first studio album since 1981’s 'The Visitors' features ten tracks written by ABBA's songwriters, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus and includes the singles ‘Don't Shut Me Down’ (#27 September ’21) and ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ (#39 September ’21). It’s the second ABBA album to top the ARIA Charts after the compilation 'ABBA Gold' spent four straight weeks at #1 in December 1992. 'Voyage' will be supported by a concert residency, also called 'ABBA Voyage', that will take place in London beginning on 27 May 2022 and will feature the digital avatars of the group.
#3: Radiohead ‘Kid A Mnesia’ – Marking two decades of 'Kid A' (#2 October ‘00) and 'Amnesiac' (#2 June ‘01), Radiohead hit this week’s chart with the reissue package 'Kid A Mnesia'. As well as the two original albums, the set includes a third disc comprising previously unreleased material from the recording sessions of both albums. The reissue of the band’s previous album, 'OK Computer: OKNOTOK 1997-2017', peaked at #6 in July 2017. 'Kid A Mnesia' is #1 on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.

This week's single chartifacts

#1: Elton John & Dua Lipa ‘Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)’ – Elton John & Dua Lipa’s ‘Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)’ holds #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for a second straight week. The track only spent one week at #1 in the UK, but like in Australia, it spent five weeks at #2.
#9: Post Malone & The Weeknd ‘One Right Now’ – American hip hop artist Post Malone teams up with The Weeknd to release ‘One Right Now’. It’s the second track from Malone’s forthcoming fourth album after ‘Motley Crew’ (#19 July ’21) and becomes his tenth Singles Chart Top Ten. It’s The Weeknd’s twelfth career Top Ten and third for 2021; he debuted at #8 two weeks ago with ‘Moth To A Flame’, a collaboration with Swedish House Mafia.
