Welcome to This Week In Pop.
Taylor Swift is back to doing what she does best: smashing records and dominating the charts with her first new album in two years, 'Midnights'.
Debuting at #1 on the Albums Chart, Swift’s first independent release passes Harry Styles for the biggest single week of any album so far in 2022. It is also the biggest single week for any album since the release of her 2017 album 'Reputation'.
Swift also sets a record on the Singles Chart, surpassing Harry Styles for the most singles in the top 10, blocking out the chart with Anti-Hero at #1 and another eight singles. Sam Smith and Kim Petras ruin her shot at a perfect score with last week’s #1, Unholy, at #7.
Arctic Monkeys are back on the Albums Chart at #2 with the debut of 'The Car'. ARIA Hall Of Fame inductee and 16-time ARIA Award-winner Kylie Minogue is also back in the charts at #3 with the 25th anniversary reissue of 1987’s 'Impossible Princess'.
