This weekend's Perth leg of the Big Day Out will mark the end of an era.
AJ Maddah sent out apocalyptic vibes on Twitter last week, predicting that there will be "zero festivals going to WA in 2015". Today, in something of a self-fulfilling prophecy, the Big Day Out co-owner has confirmed that this will be the event's last year in Perth.
@KayleeRace1 Not sure. Definitely the last BDO for Perth.

This year's Perth leg has been deeply troubled, relocating from Claremont Showgrounds to Arena Joondalup. At the time of the switch, Maddah laid the blame on the local Perth government. "It's all about pushing events out of Showgrounds so it can be flogged off to their developer mates for apartments & town houses," he tweeted. "So they keep pushing down sound limits, cutting down show times, making things prohibitively expensive, etc."
The feeling is mutual — Claremont mayor Jock Barker recently told Tone Deaf that Big Day Out were "not welcome" in his town. "We don't want the Big Day Out or Soundwave back in Claremont at all," he said. "They contribute nothing."
Pour one out for the sandgropers, guys.
