One of the country's most enduring pop-rock outfits, The Whitlams will celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of their seminal albums, 'Eternal Nightcap', with a series of one-off concerts around the country.
Released in 1997, 'Eternal Nightcap' featured lead single 'No Aphrodisiac' that placed #1 on the Hottest 100 that same year, while the band collected three ARIA Awards (Song Of The Year, Best Independent Release' and Best Group) in 1998.
The album also heralded the return of piano rock with lyrical themes that resonated for many in their teens and early 20s; from love ('Melbourne') to heart wreck ('Life's A Beach'), mad parties ('You Sound Like Louis Burdett') to tragic friendships ('The Charlie' trilogy).
The band will perform 'Eternal Nightcap' start to finish before embarking on a secondary set of some of their classics – 'Gough', 'I Make Hamburgers', and 'Blow Up The Pokies' as well as a selection of songs from their 2022's album 'Sancho'.
"After two postponements we had a blast on tour earlier this year," the band says.
"We're looking forward to taking it up a notch this September celebrating 25 years of 'Eternal Nightcap' in some beautiful theatres (and The Gov!).
Along the way The Whitlams will be joined by some special guests: Custard (Newcastle, Canberra, Wollongong, Sydney); Ash Grunwald & Emily Wurramara (Toowoomba); Icecream Hands (Melbourne); and Siobhan Cotchin (Perth).
