The West Room – Brisbane's Newest Live Performance Space

The West Room
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Brisbane is raring to get back into live music and with anticipation for normality building, it's time to add a brand-new venue to the city's offering: The West Room.

It was only last month Metro Arts relaunched in West End, giving theatre and art lovers a new place to convene, and now music consumers will have somewhere fresh to relish in live performance. The West Room aims to add to the rich musical tapestry of the area, providing a safe space for acts of the grass roots persuasion as well as those touring nationally.

"There will be a lot of diversity in the content, from indie to rock and roll, hip hop and everything in between," Operations Manager Josh Collins tells scenestr. "Our emphasis will be having shows of interest for fans of all genres. As for shows already booked, jump on our socials, we will be announcing five huge shows, with the first shows less that a month away!"

The venue is fitted out with two bars serving an array of local craft beer, spirits and cocktails, as well as an open air deck space.

Meanwhile, there are capabilities to host GA standing shows in the Library room for 150 people, or the full West Room with a standing capacity of 550 plus guest list (the current capacity with restrictions is 160 plus guest list GA). The main room boasts a late night liquor license, lounge chairs, soft furnishings and a stage soon to host some of Brisbane's favourite acts.

"We hope to complement the great institutions of the Brisbane scene past and present," Josh continues, "and play a part in the live event industry as we all rebuild post-COVID."

The West Room's launch party takes place on 14 November. The venue is located at 85 Russell Street, West End.
