The Waifs Lead Singer Suffers Broken Ribs, Collapsed Lungs

Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

The Waifs leader singer, Donna Simpson, was involved in an e-scooter accident in the band's home town of Broome, Western Australia six weeks ago.

Yesterday the band announced Simpson will not perform at this weekend’s Handpicked Festival at Langhorne Creek, South Ausstralia although the set will go ahead without her. “I am sorry to miss everyone at Handpicked this weekend but I’m confident my little sister, Josh, Dave and Ben will deliver you a stunning set without me. Not as good as my set without her at Blues festival, but close!”, she wrote on social media.

Simpson has been told she cannot fly making the accident unlucky timing for the Aussie folk rock outfit’s Up All Night Tour. So far, the only other affected date is this Friday’s Geelong gig which has been postponed until 2024.
