On the road for the better part of the last six weeks, NSW band The Vanns (hailing from the town of Kiama) decided to take a few holiday polaroids, sharing them with scenestr. Enjoy.
Somewhere along the Great Ocean Road
We were definitely in a 'No Camping' zone here, but there was enormous surf just over the hill that we just had to get stuck into. This is the type of image that makes us feel good about being in a band and it's what my 13-year-old self would have fantasised about (among other things…); surfing by day and playing gigs at night. We put Lachie in the tent that night as he'd had a rough trot with a curry that day and was still feeling the effects. I'm sure some of the wildlife won't be back for a while.
Tattoo
Our mate Jules had just got off a plane from serving in Afghanistan and he came out on the road with us for a few weeks to just chill. When he suggested he get a 'Vanns' tat, we didn't have to try too hard to find a dodgy 'artist' in the back streets of Collingwood who was only too happy to grant him his wish. Hopefully the tat is still there and not just a bruised-looking smudge.

It's been great to have Cam with us on the second half of the tour. Cam plays guitar and keys and he has a wicked Ford Transit van which we'll get to in a sec. But that's not the only reason he's in the band… Really, he has a great sense of humour. Oh and he can play anything that you'd define as an instrument.

We had some stools made up to look like amps. Very cool! That reminds me, about a second after this pic was taken some crazy guy came from nowhere and started abusing us, telling us 'You scumbags, you can't camp there!' Thanks mate, we were just about to build a fire and dig a bush dunny you dickhead; welcome to Newie! Note: this is the first tour van we've ever had with an emergency exit.

Just when you think you've seen it all, another area opens up to relax in. The ventilation is top notch which is critical when you have four guys living together in a small space.

Hmmmm, I'm seeing a pattern here. This is also in the back of Cam's van. It's deceptively spacious in there.
We stopped off at FBI Radio in Sydney for a chat with our good buddy Ryan. We gave our new single 'Keep My Cool' a spin and then we tried taking over his show by locking him out of the control room. He thought it was funny for a bit and then he just got really angry, so I grabbed the fire extinguisher to put out his flames. We found out later that every band who stops by, plays the same joke on poor Ryan. Sorry buddy! Cam now has this fire extinguisher in his van.

This pic was from one of the great stops on our tour which will end up being over 25 gigs by the time we get back home. Next tour we're going to Perth and as far north as they'll have us. But first it's back home to jam and write a bunch of new songs. There's always something to look forward to.
