One of Australia's most iconic singing ensembles, The Ten Tenors will celebrate their 30th anniversary with a massive national tour in 2025.
What started out as a one-off corporate performance by a group of young blokes at Brisbane's Conservatorium of Music in 1995, The Ten Tenors have turned into a global phenomenon with a resume that has seen them tour 37 countries and perform more than 3,500 shows including at famed venues Royal Albert Hall in London and Los Angeles' The Shrine Auditorium.Across 38 shows next year, The Ten Tenors will travel to every Australian state as well as Canberra and Darwin late April to early June. Alongside playing the capital cities, the group will also visit Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Townsville, Wollongong, Geelong, Frankston, Newcastle and a number of other regional centres before a final, hometown performance.
"The Ten Tenors sound has been refined, the dancing is light years ahead and the suits are definitely better and matching," shares the group, "but the heart, soul and energy of the group remains as it always has. They are serious about singing, slightly irreverent and always fun."
With an alumni of almost 60 members since inception, the current line-up includes some of the finest opera singers from Australia and New Zealand (Boyd Owen, Daniel Belle, Ammon Bennett and Cameron Barclay). The Ten Tenors also feature highly accomplished contemporary and musical theatre singers (Michael Edwards, Adrian Li Donni, JD Smith and Sam Ward).
"We don't have a secret tattoo or a ring, but for a time there we did have the secret cuff links that were worn onstage," jokes producer and long-time manager of The Ten Tenors, D-J Wendt.
Adds Boyd Owen: "The camaraderie and feeling of being a Tenor can be likened to the combination of the best parts of a strong family bond, a football team and a secret club, rolled in to one."
Tickets on sale from 10am (local time) on 19 September.
