Now into its ninth year, Eumundi School of Music continues to offer budding young musicians across the Sunshine Coast a pathway to chase their music dreams.
Founded by five-time ARIA Award-winning songstress and musical director of the 2018 Commonwealth Games' opening and closing ceremonies Katie Noonan, Eumundi School of Music has awarded more than 250 scholarships to young rockers across the region."The programme has flourished in all the right ways over the years, and is something we're all really proud of," Katie says. "It's genuinely a privilege for us to mentor the next generation of passionate young musicians."
ESOM bands-musicians have had opportunities to perform on festival stages including Woodford Folk Festival, Horizon Festival, Little Day Out and Gympie Music Muster, with many of the student alumni going on to further study at Queensland Conservatorium of Music and Sunshine Coast University.
Eumundi School Of Music's annual music festival, that take places at Eumundi School of Arts on 13 September, will be headlined by Australian rock & roll stalwarts The Superjesus, who are led by Sarah McLeod, alongside Eumundi School of Music alumni bands Karma Police and The Greater Good. Current ESOM students will also perform with 40-plus musicians and 6 bands getting onstage.
ESOM provides scholarships to 30-plus young musicians each year, offering 20 tuition and band scholarships for 3 months to students in Years 3-9 for their core programme. They also offer tuition and band/ mentor scholarships for teen bands (Years 9-12), and mentor scholarships in the ESOM Show Band featuring the strongest kids from the previous year.
"Over the years our young rockers have had opportunities to be mentored by and share the stage with some super stellar musicians and bands including Tim Rogers, Frente, Abby Dobson, Clare Bowditch, Jack Carty and Dallas Frasca," Katie says.
"Sarah McLeod and her band The Superjesus will bring their mentoring musical best for this year's show, and the students are pumped for their involvement. . . Our talented ESOM rockers will be showcasing their skills in a variety of performances that are sure to impress and fill your hearts."
