The Superjesus 2021 Australia Tour

The Superjesus
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Two decades since the release their sophomore album, 'Jet Age', Aussie rockers The Superjesus are once again packing the Tarago for an eight-date Australian tour in October.

While this will be a run of shows tapping into the nostalgia of 'Jet Age', the band fronted by Sarah McLeod are also promising new music with the four-piece writing material for the group's fourth album (and their first since 2003's 'Rock Music').

"We had started writing the songs while we were in LA touring," bass player Stuart Rudd says of the making of 'Jet Age', which was produced by American Ed Buller (The Psychedelic Furs, Suede, Ben Lee) and features their hit 'Gravity' (which placed #17 in that year's Hottest 100).

"He was really quick to work with. He cut the fat off the songs: 'Let's make melody king' was his approach.

"He squeezed a different texture from the band where [debut album] 'Sumo' was more raucous, Ed tended to smooth the edges off a little bit and refined it, made it more about the songs."

To kick off in their home town of Adelaide, the tour will traverse Melbourne (two shows), Brisbane, Toowoomba, Newcastle and Sydney (two shows).

"Once we got our drummer Travis Tragani [in 2016] we realised we're actually a pretty good band and it would be a shame to only drag it out to play the old hits at festivals here and there," Sarah says.

"Let's actually focus on this legitimate act with legs – we're more than just a relic band. We've got a lot of good songs in us, people seem to like us – we could be doing this for the rest of our lives.

"So we started writing again, and it's really fun."
