Already confirmed as one of Splendour's 2022 headliners, kings of rock & roll cool The Strokes will also perform headline concerts in Melbourne and Sydney.
First taking over the world in the late '90s with their angular, chic garage rock the quintet of singer Julian Casablancas, guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr, bassist Nikolai Fraiture and drummer Fabrizio Moretti became household names thanks to 2001 album 'Is This It' and the equally tasty follow-up record, 2003's 'Room On Fire'.Mega tunes like 'Someday', 'Last Nite', 'Reptilia' and '12:51' are still as vibrant as when they were first released, showcasing The Strokes ability to dominate the global music scene with timeless hits.
Last year the group returned with their sixth studio album, the lush sounding, magnificent opus 'The New Abnormal' that they recorded with another icon of music, Rick Rubin at his fabled Shangri-La Studios in Malibu.
Set to join The Strokes at both shows will be punk rebels The Chats (who have previously been booked by Josh Homme personally to support QOSTA on their Australian tour) and Sydney indie psych rockers The Lazy Eyes.
Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) 9 November. More information.
