The Sound Society is Brisbane’s newest free, outdoor live music series to be held monthly in the picturesque surrounds of South Bank and Roma Street Parklands.
Celebrating slowing down, great tunes, good company and Brisbane’s gorgeous climate, The Sound Society presents chilled-out performances from local and interstate artists set among the towering trees of two of Brisbane’s most spectacular parklands.
It’s the perfect setting to relax and unwind with friends and family, or enjoy some quality alone time, while the sounds of the river city mingle with the laidback vibes of artists such as Dakota Striplin, LS Philosophy, Innocent Eve, Neighbour and The Ravi Welsh Trio.
The South Bank programme kicks off in the first weekend of October with a set from Redland Bay pop-rock singer-songwriter Dakota Striplin treating audiences to his infectious acoustic tunes.
LS Philosophy is a popular groove-funk seven-piece made up of talented musicians from South East Queensland fronted by soulful female vocals and backed by a powerfully tight rhythm and horn section.
From the expansive cattle properties of Central Queensland comes Innocent Eve, an acoustic duo that blends poetic lyrics and perfect harmonies. The South Bank programme will also feature a solo set from Tailor Birds and shows from Andrea Kirwin Trio and Neighbour.
The Roma Street Parklands sessions will see performances from jazz/ funk outfit Ravi Welsh Trio, the Brazilian roots of View From Madeline’s Couch and jazz-fusion ensemble Kerbside Collection.
Food is also on the menu – either bring along your favourite picnic snacks or grab a bite to eat from one of the nearby food vendors.
The Sound Society is held on the first weekend of each month, and entry is free. South Bank’s sessions are on the Saturday afternoon from 2-7pm at Rainforest Green (moved to the Piazza for October to December). Roma Street Parkland is your new Sunday brunch hotspot with live music on the Sunday from 9am to midday at the Banyan Lawn.
