The Smith Street Band Return To The Stage With A Semi-Acoustic Album

The Smith Street Band
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.
Update - 29 January, 2021: Smith Street's Wil Wagner has added a solo show in Brisbane at The Triffid on 12 February. Tickets selling fast for The Smith Street Band’s other shows including two sold out shows in Melbourne.

After only playing live nine times in 2020, The Smith Street Band were eager to get back to work once COVID-19 restrictions were eased in Victoria.

But facing the prospect of performing to socially-distanced seated audiences, the band decided to revisit ten songs from their back catalogue with the aim to create a batch of semi-acoustic, alt. country, punk numbers.

The first sample of this project – a ten-track album titled 'Unplugged In Wombat State Forest' – is the colonial-punk joy of 'It's OK' (lifted from their 2020 album 'Don't Waste Your Anger').

The Smith Street Band will play shows in Bendigo and Warrnambool, before a three-date stop at Forum Melbourne (two dates have already sold out) before heading to Sydney's Enmore Theatre.

The band will return to NSW when they play Wollongong's Yours & Owls Festival in April.

'Unplugged In Wombat State Forest' will be available in limited coloured vinyl, CD/DVD packs and cassette tapes from 5 March, 2021. Pre-order it.
