Aussie rockers The Rubens will release their fifth studio album this spring before embarking on an eight-date national tour.
Titled 'Soda', the band have teased the follow-up to their 2021 ARIA #1 album '0202' with the singles 'Black Balloon', 'Liquid Gold', 'Good Mood' and 'Pets And Drugs', and today they drop the album's title track."We really love this song sonically," The Rubens says. "We feel like it encapsulates the record, so it makes the most sense to name the album after it. It's a breakup song where the fault is all on you, and you're trying to come to terms with the fact you're a f...-up basically.
"It didn't originally have the Auto-Tune on there, Konstantin (Kersting) wanted to do a crazy version with the vocals and once he sent it back, we were all like 'yeah, that's it'. We never pictured Auto-Tune on there, but it makes it sound slightly disturbing. It brings out the emotion a bit more."
The Rubens' tour will see them headline concerts in Forth, Hobart, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and Fremantle.
'Soda' will be released 20 September. Pre-order it.
