Set to tour UK-Europe in November, Sydney indie upstarts The Rions will release their debut album this spring before a run of Australian shows.
After winning triple j's Unearthed High in 2021 (with the single 'Night Light' that has 11M Spotify streams), the high school buds of Noah Blockley, Harley Wilson, Asher McLean, and Tom Partington are now ready to showcase their first major body of work they've titled 'Everything Every Single Day' (which will be released 3 October; pre-order it)."In some ways, it feels like the first real step," the band explain. "It's the most open wound we've allowed the world to see thus far, and an insight into our lives as humans. All our triumphs, our regrets, our shortcomings, our philosophies, our hopes, and our dreams on a 13-track silver platter."
After teasing the record with previous singles 'Maybe I'm Just A Freak' and 'Shut You Out', The Rions' have shared another taste from their debut record, 'Tonight's Entertainment'. "It was built around the piano riff Harley had written whilst in the green room of one of our shows in Canberra," The Rions share.
"We wanted to paint the picture of our gratitude, so to speak, with something as beautifully simple as 'I wouldn't change a thing if I could' in regards to what we get to do for a living. "We are so lucky to be surrounded by a beautiful team every angle we turn, and it has allowed us to build a relationship with fans around the world."
The Australian tour will visit Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart and Adelaide this October, with the band to return from the northern hemisphere to play the sold out (mostly) Spilt Milk festival series in Ballarat, Perth, Canberra and Gold Coast in December.
The 'Tonight's Entertainment' music video was directed by Emily Mays from Chisel. "It's one thing to perform in front of thousands of people, but it takes a special kind of confidence to play on the street to no one, until it's to someone," the band says.
"Just pretending to perform on camera in character for the music video was hard enough for us, so we have the upmost respect for the artists that are out there every day, grinding.
"We chose a colourful line-up of characters for the video, spanning iconic industry freaks like the great, late David Bowie (Ziggy Stardust), inspirations of ours like Ringo Starr and Mk.gee with his latest album 'Two Star' and the dream police, and the modern super star Harry Styles."
