The Proclaimers have been removed from King Charles's coronation playlist.

The coronation which goes down on 6th May won't feature the iconic I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) because of their recent comments against the monarchy.

While speaking to The National, Charlie said, of media coverage around late Queen Elizabeth's passing, "The way they've acted you'd think the story was that it's just about people's grief and people respecting her but the real story is that in 2022 an unelected head of state has died. "Her son, similarly unelected, has taken over and the media has encouraged no debate on that. They’re unquestioning. The way they report that everyone in Britain feels the same way, they don’t. This is just simply untrue."

Reid expressed his republican views in the interview after a man was arrested for shouting "who elected him?" during a proclamation event for King Charles in 2022. The Proclaimer singer said: "I thought that guy spoke for me, and he speaks for loads of other people. Not just in Scotland, but right around the UK."

A Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport spokesperson said: "The playlist has been created to celebrate British and Commonwealth artists ahead of the upcoming coronation." Other artists such as Queen, David Bowie, The Beatles, and Tom Jones will feature in the Coronation compilation.

Katy Perry, Take That, Lionel Richie, Alexis Ffrench and Freya Ridings are among those set to perform Perry said she is "excited" to perform at the concert while Richie said it was an honour.
