After playing Glastonbury this year, new wave, power pop UK band The Primitives will finally tour Australia for the first time, 30-plus years after their peak period of the late '80s, early '90s.
Best known for their 1988 hit 'Crash' (which was later reworked for the 'Dumb & Dumber' 1994 soundtrack), The Primitives will headline shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth next February. The Primitives recently celebrated the 35th anniversary of their debut album 'Lovely', which features 'Crash' as well as UK Top 100 songs 'Stop Killing Me', 'Thru The Flowers', and 'Out Of Reach'.
Quickly becoming underground stars of the alternative scene, the band released two more studio albums 'Pure' and 'Galore', plus extensive tours of Europe and the US, before the band called it a day in 1992.
The band reunited for a one-off concert in 2009, in their home town Coventry, after the untimely death of their original bass player Steve Dullaghan – the first time they'd shared a stage together in 17 years.
After playing a secret London show and touring UK, Europe and the US the following year, The Primitives released the 'Never Kill A Secret' EP in 2011 featuring two new original songs. They then released a new studio 'Spin-O-Rama' in 2014.
Another EP, 'New Thrills', arrived in 2017 before the band released the limited edition single 'Don't Know Where To Start' in 2022 that was followed by a digital-only single 'I Won't Care' May 2023.
The current band line-up includes original members Tracy Tracy (vocals), Paul Court (guitar/ vocals) and Tig Williams (drums).
