Summer's almost here, and the only thing that truly tops off an excellent summer is a banging soundtrack to go with it.
Luckily, a bunch of artists are coming together to form one of the very few music festivals to play Queensland in 2020 – a pretty cool honour – in the epic Factory Summer Festival, to provide that soundtrack. These artists include Hermitude (DJ set), The Presets, Peking Duk (DJ set), Confidence Man, Illy, Ruel and Vera Blue.
Over three mammoth weeks throughout December at Brisbane Showgrounds, a host of events will take place across four stages, nine themed bars, a massive silent disco, carnival rides, a games arcade and more.
With COVID-safe measures in place for the event and outdoor dancing finally allowed across the state, organisers will work to ensure Factory Summer Festival will be a safe and controlled experience.
"2020 has seen a huge number of events cancelled, postponed or on hold, so it feels incredible to bring a new arts and music festival to Brisbane," Factory Co-Director Chris Bausor says.
"We are excited to play our part in reigniting the industry whilst providing a safe, enjoyable experience for the people of Queensland."
The opening night will set the tone for a wild summer of music, headlined by electronic hip hop duo Hermitude (DJ set) in a Brisbane exclusive, alongside international DJ Anna Lunoe.
Then, The Presets will keep the party vibes going on Saturday night.
Kicking off the second weekend is Peking Duk (DJ set), the groovy Confidence Man, and Benson, while What So Not, ShockOne, Vera Blue, Northeast Party House, Graace and Stace Cadet fill up Saturday and Sunday.
We're about to be inundated with Christmas chaos, but Hayden James and Illy will provide the perfect antidote to silly season overload on Christmas Eve, and Example, Motez, Dirty South and Nina Las Vegas farewell all things Yuletide in a Boxing Day show.
Sure, we can't go 'Around The World' right now – thanks rona – but that's not to say things can't get 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger' in Brisbane, right? At the tail end of Factory, Discovery Daft Punk will spin anthems from the iconic electronic act in tribute to their killer discography.
Then, it all ends with a bang in the New Year's Eve event, because nothing says 'see ya later 2020' like an epic night of DJs playing bangers for your entertainment and escapism.
The Brisbane season of Factory Summer Festival marks an east coast expansion for the Perth-based event which has served up summer on the west coast as the Ice Cream Factory Summer Festival for three massive years.
Tickets for Factory Summer Festival are on sale now.
