The Ocean 2024 Australia Tour

The Ocean tour Australia June 2024.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Atmospheric post-metal band The Ocean return to Australia this June, their first headline shows down under in almost a decade.

After stunning local audiences last year when they supported Australian progressive metal band Ne Obliviscaris, this time the German collective led by guitarist and mastermind Robin Staps are bringing legendary US metal/ hardcore pioneers Cave In for their first-ever Australian shows and insanely heavy Danish label mates LLNN.

"We're stoked to announce our return to Australia in June with support from one of our favourite bands of all times: Cave In. . . and we're bringing some heavy Danish extra luggage [LLNN] with us as well. Bring your laser swords and come hang."

Last year, The Ocean released their ninth album 'Holocene' – the heavily conceptual collective's most exploratory and varied release yet - that was the conclusion of the paleontological era they began with 2018's 'Phanerozoic I: Paleozoic' and continued with 2020's 'Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic / Cenozoic'.

Formed in 1995 in Massachusetts by singer-guitarist Stephen Brodsky, Cave In was ahead of its time from the very beginning, helping to define the then-primitive metalcore genre with a creatively elevated slant on their 1998 debut album 'Until Your Heart Stops'.

After the death of bassist-vocalist Caleb Scofield in 2018, Converge bassist Nate Newton picked up his friend's instrument and the band was able to continue on its legacy, Cave In releasing their sixth album 'Final Transmission' in 2019 followed by their seventh record, 2022's 'Heavy Pendulum'.

Rounding out this trio into a certified powerhouse of thinking man's metal with some unsubtle bludgeoning, Denmark's LLNN sound like the apocalypse on steroids. Signed to The Ocean's Pelagic Records, LLNN unleash vicious sonic textures atop a percussive barrage of unhinged rhythmic destruction.

Tickets on sale from 10am (local time) on 23 February.
