The McClymonts Are Back

The McClymonts
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Brooke, Sam and Mollie McClymont return with their fourth album, ‘Here’s To You & I’, and once again, it’s filled with heartfelt stories, irresistible tunes and that unmistakable honesty.

Ahead of the Gympie Music Muster, Mollie found time to answer our questions.

How does it feel returning to the music scene after a short absence? It feels SO good! We took time off to clear our heads and enjoy what was going on in each of our lives. Now we are back, we had plenty to write about and think this is the best album to date. We can't wait to get back on the road as it's been way too long.

What are the challenges of working with your sisters? Being in each other’s pockets for a long period of time gets a bit tough, but since we have been doing it for so long we now know how to give each other space and not be so hard on one another. I think we have finally found balance! Haha!

How would you describe the new album? It's got a song on there for every emotion. There is traditional country, country rock, country ballad, country pop. It a bag of mixed goodies.

What are you most looking forward to about playing at the Gympie Music Muster? Getting up on that main stage! We were discovered at the Gympie Muster when I was only 12, so going back there brings back a lot of memories. The crowd gives us such a buzz.

How would you rate the Australian country music scene today? Thriving. There are so many talented up and coming artists coming through that no one should be worried about the future of country music. It's in great hands.

If you could work with any artist from any genre, who would it be and what would you guys do? Dolly Parton. We grew up listening to Dolly, she is the Queen of Country. It would be amazing if we could write and record a song together.

Does it ever really sink in that you've had top selling albums, four ARIA awards and several wins at the Australian Country Music Awards? No! It's always when we are doing things like this when I am reminded and I have to pinch myself! We are so lucky and I couldn't be any prouder with all we have achieved.

‘Here’s To You & I’ is out July 4. The McClymonts headline the Gympie Music Muster that takes place August 28-31. The McClymonts also have a string of their own headline dates.
