Australia, prep yourself for rowdy sing-alongs and foot-stomping energy when Irish seven-piece The Mary Wallopers tour in 2024.
Originally formed by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy, and Sean McKenna, the trad-folk band are influenced by Irish punk-urban poet Jinx Lennon. With the Wallopers currently finishing off a sold-out tour across Europe, USA, UK and Ireland promoting their new album, 'Irish Rock N Roll', they will headline shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth next May.
"People of Australia! Brace yourselves because we are coming to play you all our smelly little songs and complain about the heat. Can't wait to see yee in May xoxoxo."
First emerging in 2019, the ensuring lockdowns of 2020 forced the band online where their reinterpretations of traditional ballads found them a global audience.
Charles, Andrew and Sean have since been joined by Seamas Hyland (accordion), Finian O'Connor (pipes/ whistles), Roisin Barrett (bass), and Ken Mooney (drums) – they continue to perform the songs handed down through the generations as well as few of their own originals that appear on 'Irish Rock N Roll'.
Tickets on sale from 12pm (local time) on 1 December.
