Indie legends The Lemonheads return to Australia to gift local fans a rare opportunity to hear two of the group's most beloved albums in full.
Evan Dando and his band will perform both 'It's A Shame About Ray' (1992) and 'Come On Feel The Lemonheads' (1993) from start to finish, in what will be a rare occasion these tracks will be played in a live setting – both recently celebrating their 30th anniversaries. The May tour will visit Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Fremantle. "Hello! Hello! This be Evan Dando calling Oz! I am wicked happy to be coming back to Australia to play the two LPs written on your sparkling continent.
"Yes, we will be playing 'Ray' and 'Come On Feel' to keep you dancing! And just in time for the release of the first single of The Lemonheads new album 'Love Chant'. The song 'Deep End' was co-written with the incredibly talented Tom Morgan. Stay tuned for more."
Alongside the title track, the re-released version of 'It's A Shame About Ray' also features arguably The Lemonheads most recognised song, their punkish cover of Simon & Garfunkel's 'Mrs. Robinson' (which was a Top 20 hit in Australia) as well as 'My Drug Buddy', 'Confetti' and 'Rudderless'.
While 'Come On Feel...' features some classic '90s indie singles: 'Into Your Arms', 'Big Gay Heart', and 'It's About Time'. Both of these iconic albums embody some of the finest moments of '90s alternative music.
"I'm beyond stoked to be heading back to Australia, just in time for the release of new music that I've been working on, including a single co-written with the incredibly talented Tom Morgan," adds Evan.
"Australia has always been a massive source of inspiration for my music, and with new music coming soon this feels like a dream come true.
"It's also a special moment for me, as we wrap up celebrating the 30th anniversary of 'It's A Shame About Ray' and 'Come On Feel The Lemonheads'. To be able to mark the end of that era in Australia, a place that's always felt like a second home, is almost like being blessed to move on to a new moment."
