Las Vegas rockers The Killers will bring the glitz and glamour to the streets of Adelaide later this year when they headline VALO Adelaide 500's 2022 after-race concerts series.
With the American band already headed to Australia for a national tour that commences in late November, The Killers will play the Sunday night concert (4 December) to be joined by a special guest (to be announced later).The Friday instalment of bands features a host of Australia's hottest musical exports with rockers Lime Cordiale joined by hip hop artist Baker Boy and electronic legends The Presets alongside local punk-rock duo Teenage Joans.
While the Saturday night concert will be a celebration of classic Aussie rock with legendary Jimmy Barnes to be joined '80s rock stalwarts Icehouse and pub rock larrikins, the recently reformed Noiseworks.
Six local acts will also be announced later as part of the MusicSA's Bands On Track incentive joining the line-up of artists.
"We made a commitment to not only bring back the great race that is the Adelaide 500 but, also, make it an event which will bring our events sector roaring back to life," South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas says.
"And that we have done in securing one of the world's best live acts to celebrate the Adelaide 500's return – The Killers.
"Plus we have some of our country’s most-revered artists set to perform alongside a bevy of local talent that will help soundtrack the return of this great event, putting South Australia in pole position on the motorsport calendar.
"This is a big win for music fans but also for the events and live music sectors with three nights of concerts delivering much-needed work and breathing more life back into these vital industries."
