A new, two-day, all-ages music and community boutique festival is set to arrive on the Sunshine Coast this autumn.

To be headlined by Kate Miller-Heidke and Busby Marou, Sunshine Sounds Festival will be delivered by superwoman songstress Katie Noonan (who will also perform at the festival) and her production company Kin Music, and will be staged at the Eumundi Showgrounds 1-2 May (Labour Day long weekend).

The 100 per cent Queensland artist line-up will also welcome Miiesha, Asha Jefferies, Jack Carty, Sahara Beck, Andrea Kirwin and the Yama-Nui Social Club, Pink Matter, The Dreggs, LT (Leanne Tennant), and Band Of Frequencies plus a host of locals artists.

"We're super happy to share that the festival programming is 100 per cent Queensland artists, 50 per cent First Nations, 50 per cent Sunshine Coast and 75 per cent female artists," Katie says.

"On the back of COVID, we've set out to create a festival that really brings people together. Coming together to connect over music is so important for the soul, for community spirit and connection. And that all contributes to well-being and happiness – something we all deserve to feel in this topsy-turvy time.

"It's also about performers having a chance to engage together again, earn some much-needed money and remember what it feels like to play live again," Katie says. Read our recent Q&A with Katie, who performed at Adelaide Fringe last month.

With live music happening between 11am-10pm both days, patrons who attend are advised to BYO bottle for complimentary water refills (the event is plastic and glass-free). The festival will also team with local businesses, The Imperial Hotel and Eumundi Brewery, who'll be serving up fresh brews and locally crafted Folktale Gin across the weekend.

Sunshine Sounds Festival has been supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland with an Open Air Grant; these grants support the activation of outdoor productions and the engagement of local communities in arts and cultural experiences.

With a limited number of tickets (on sale now), local music lovers are advised to act quickly to secure their spot at Sunshine Sounds Festival.

2021 Sunshine Sounds Festival takes place at Eumundi Showgrounds (Sunshine Coast) 1-2 May.
