Gothic rock, post-punk rockers The Horrors return to Australia in 2026.
After their Dark Mofo appearance in Hobart earlier this year and an intimate Live at 3RRR in Melbourne performance, the April dates will be the Southend locals first proper run of Australian shows in 14 years, previously playing Laneway Festival in 2012 (and a series of headline dates).
"AUSTRALIA! The Horrors return in April – for our first Aus tour in a long time. What songs do you want to hear? We will consider all requests before politely ignoring them," tease the garage goths, who will headline concerts in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
In the time since that 2012 tour, the 'Still Life' and 'Sea Within A Sea' hitmakers have released three studios albums: 2014's 'Luminous' (featuring 'So You Will Know'); 2017's 'V' (featuring 'Something To Remember Me By' and 'Press Enter To Exit'); and 2025's 'Night Life' that was heralded by lead single 'The Silence That Remains' – with founding members Badwan, Hayward, and Webb all involved in the making of the album, as well as featuring their new members Amelia Kidd on keyboards/ backing vocals and Jordan Cook on drums.
'Night Life' is a record of weight and space; of melancholy and euphoria; a record that has the ability to make bedfellows of seemingly disparate ideas as only The Horrors can.
The 'Night Life' here is not the vim and vigour of pubs and clubs. It's the thoughts that happen under the cover of darkness; the places your mind takes you when the rest of the world is asleep. A record born out of a desire to revive the raw, instinctive spirit of the band’s early work.
"On one of my 3am insomnia walks, which became a running theme of the record, I found an art portfolio full of an entire stack of very thin sheets of paper, maybe one step up from tissue paper," lead vocalist Faris Badwan posted to the band's socials earlier this year.
"I wrote the lyrics in charcoal stick on the top sheet so that it left an imprint six or seven sheets deep, and kept starting over on new layers. I left the sheets on my desk and added to them over a few weeks, before we eventually chose our favourites.
"Sarah's photos are so beautiful and refined and we kind of liked the fact that my lyric pages are a counter-balance to that."
Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 3 November.
