Hunter Valley's The Gum Ball returns in 2021 for three days of musical discovery 16-18 April.
With a strong focus on community and family, The Gum Ball has survived many hurdles across the years and event organisers are not letting a pandemic stop them from providing a positive outlet for music lovers to gather. While the 2021 event will have a reduced capacity of patrons, the music programme is once more stacked with a host of quality Aussie acts alongside a slew of emerging local talent.
The line-up features guitar virtuoso Harts Plays Hendrix, the roots-surf rock vibes of The Beautiful Girls, punk-blues-folk-rock of Cash Savage And The Last Drinks, and Australian creative iOTA (Coma-Doof Warrior from 'Mad Max: Fury Road') who played the very first Gum Ball in 2005.
Then there's veterans of the scene Emma Donovan & The Putbacks (whose members also perform with the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, The Bombay Royale, D.D Dumbo), legendary three-piece indie pop rockers Even, singer-songwriter Melody Pool (who has new music in the works), and 'Courtney Love' and 'Be Here' singer-songwriter Tori Forsyth (who'll release her second album 'Provlépseis' in May).
Atmospheric synth-pop of Cousin Tony's Brand New Firebird, psychedelic alt-country soundscapes of Lost Ragas, Indigenous surf rock feels of King Stingray, dreamy cinematic melodies of Coda Chroma and Newcastle-based psych rocker Lachlan X. Morris flesh out the bill (plus much more).
The festival continues to connect community and culture, with homage to the traditional owners of the land, the Wonnarua, featured through a one-off artwork by local Indigenous artist Debbie Becker.
Limited tickets are on sale now.
The Gum Ball takes place At Dashville (Hunter Valley) 16-18 April.
