American surf-rock, garage-psych cult favourites, The Growlers return to Australia in 2026.
More than a half decade since their last visit down under (2019), the southern Californian band will headline concerts in Melbourne, Torquay, Newcastle, Sydney (x2 shows), Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Northern Rivers and Gold Coast next January. The Grogans join the tour as main support act (except Torquay).
With an underground following built on their 'beach goth' aesthetic, across six studio albums (including working with collaborators like Dan Auerbach and Julian Casablancas) – the most recent being 2019's 'Natural Affair' – The Growlers catalogue of hits includes 'Going Gets Tough', 'Dope On A Rope', 'Night Ride', 'Black Memories', 'Rare Hearts', 'Orgasm Of Death' and 'Try Hard Fool'.
Although inactive from recording and touring much of the last five years, the second half of 2025 has seen The Growlers, who are fronted by Brooks Nielsen (who has been prolific with five solo albums while The Growlers have been dormant), release two new singles: 'Feel My Funk' and 'Crisis'.
With longtime drummer Richard Gowen back in the fold, the chemistry that defined their best live shows has returned. The Growlers are back – ready to celebrate the songs, the fans, and the legacy that's brought them here.
"These songs mean a lot to me – and to the people who've carried them all these years," Brooks says. "This tour is about celebrating the music, the band, and everyone who's been part of the ride.
"There's a special kind of joy that happens when the songs are played live – that connection between the music and the fans – and it's something I've really missed. The Growlers have a deep catalog, hundreds of songs from many chapters, and it feels right to get back out there and honour that whole journey together."
