Eurythmics Are Getting Back Together

Eurythmics
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart are getting Eurythmics back together, but they won't be playing 'Sweet Dreams'.

Instead, the duo are reuniting to play a post-Grammys tribute to The Beatles, alongside John Mayer, Keith Urban, Alicia Keys, John Legend and Maroon 5. 'The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute To The Beatles' will be recorded on January 27, the day after the Grammy Awards.

Producer Ken Ehrlich thinks the legendary synthpop duo are the perfect choice to honour the Fab Four (though God only knows how Maroon 5 fit in there): "When it came around to booking this show, what I felt was important was to try and find those artists who not only would be able to interpret Beatles songs, but would also have an... understanding of what they meant."

Ehrlich didn't reveal which song the Eurythmics will be playing, but did confirm that Keys and Legend will cover 'Let It Be' while Mayer and Urban will take on 'Don't Let Me Down'.

The special will air February 9 in the US, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' debut on 'The Ed Sullivan Show'.
