Canadian indie folk group The East Pointers return to Australia early 2025.
The JUNO award-winning band from Canada's smallest province, Prince Edward Island, will play a trio of festivals – Nannup Music Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival and Blue Mountains Music Festival – before headlining gigs in Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns and Brisbane in March. With a catalogue of hits that include 'Wintergreen', 'Two Weeks', 'Halfway Tree' and 'Stronger Than You Know', The East Pointers have built a loyal following in Australia with a series of tours the last decade.
Still channelling Koady Chaisson as a musical partner after his passing in 2022, Tim Chaisson (fiddle, vocals, guitar) and Jake Charron (keys, guitar, vocals) have remained fiercely energetic, musically complex, and technically brilliant through years of musical map-making, travelling, partying, friendship, and triumphant homecoming.
"Australia has been a second home to us over the years, and a major source of our good times as a band," Jake says. "We're super pumped to be back this March for great shows, a dance, a laugh, maybe a cry. . . and more good times all around!"
Blending indie folk, bluegrass, and electro-trad tones, The East Pointer's most recent album was 2019's 'Yours To Break'. They released the single 'I Want You' late 2023 that was preceded a month earlier by the six-track EP 'Safe In Sound', which features the track 'Best Surprise'.
