The Drop Festival's Manly event in Sydney tomorrow (14 March) will not go ahead due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
The other Drop events planned in Torquay (VIC), Coolangatta (QLD) and Busselton (WA) remain in doubt with event organisers 'currently working on options'.Having already staged The Drop Festival in Noosa and Newcastle, the event was to be headlined by The Presets and Boy & Bear.
The Drop Festival press release:
'It is with great sadness that the organisers of The Drop Festival announce the cancellation of the Drop Festival Manly event which was due to take place tomorrow - Saturday 14th March.
'This comes after advice from Northern Beaches Council which was received at 5:20pm EDT today.
'The Council’s decision was based on today’s Government health advisory announcements pertaining to the cancellation of large-scale events and mass gatherings.
'With festival-goer well being and safety The Drop Festival’s top priority, the event has immediately followed this advice to cancel tomorrows event.
'The Drop Festival thanks all attendees for their patience in what is an unprecedented occurrence for the live music industry.
'All Drop Festival Manly event ticket holders will be notified of the refund process next week. This notification will be sent via email directly to ticket-holders.
'The Drop Festival thanks all those who supported the Manly event and in the shared passion for live music locally. Our thoughts go out to our many great vendors, partners and contractors who work in the live event industry during what is an uncertain time.
'The Drop Festival organisers are currently working on options for scheduled events in Torquay, Coolangatta and Busselton and will make further announcements about these dates next week.'
