Loveable ocker punks The Chats have channelled their devilish side with news of a new album titled 'Get F...ed', alongside dropping dates for a national tour in September.
The Sunshine Coast trio have teased their sophomore album by releasing opening track '6L GTR', which was inspired after frontman Eamon Sandwith spotted a vehicle with that number plate at an airport carpark.Featuring the chorus: "Don't need a big flash fancy car, just need a six-litre GTR," during the recording session Eamon added a quote from David Lee Roth's rap from Van Halen's 'Panama', but the retired US rocker's management played the ultimate wet blanket.
"Our manager got an email from David Lee Roth's people that said 'NO!' we can't use it," Sandwith explains. "What a dog c...!"
Recorded in Brisbane at Hunting Ground facility with Cody McWaters, who'd worked on a single for Eamon's other band Headlice, 'Get F...ed' features 13 raucous, in-your-face punk-rock bangers; the album lands 19 August.
"We just thought how funny would it be, if you were a kid seeing it on the album cover," continues Eamon.
"I remember going to K-Mart and seeing the Green Day's 'Dookie' CD, and being like, 'aw man, this is the craziest album cover I've ever seen'.
"Imagine being a kid and just seeing a CD that says 'Get F...ed'!"
The Chats will make themselves at home in airport lounges around the country when they headline dates in Hobart, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle this spring.
