Acclaimed Australian jazz-funk-ska-rock group, The Cat Empire will tour their tenth studio album nationally this winter.
Released in March, the flamenco-inspired 'Bird In Paradise' features the most languages ever on a Cat Empire record and celebrates the band's boundless creativity with a kaleidoscope of cultures woven into their unmistakable sound. After a show-stealing performance at Bluesfest and wedged between a massive 61-date international tour across North America, Europe, and the UK, The Cat Empire will headline concerts in Fremantle, Sydney, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Cairns, Hobart and Ballarat, before two concerts in their home town of Melbourne in August-September.
"Australia! We are super excited to finally announce our Bird In Paradise national tour and to have local legends Little Quirks joining us for most of the shows!
"A big thanks to all of you who've been writing to us asking about Aussie shows, we can't wait to see you all in August and September.
"PS Adelaide, we haven't forgotten you. We are passionate about bringing an all-ages show to your town so everyone can come and enjoy it, but unfortunately the venue we had booked will not be finished renovations in time. But do not fear, we're cooking up something for you. We love coming to SA and we'll get over there asap."
'Bird In Paradise' finds The Cat Empire returning to their roots recording live in-studio with a focus on chemistry, groove, and storytelling. "We didn't set out to make this record – it found us," frontman Felix Riebl says. "It's a celebration of spontaneity, togetherness, and letting music lead the way."
Alongside the title track, 'Bird In Paradise' also features the cuts 'La Gracia', 'Blood On The Stage' and 'Devil'. "It's chock full of danceable Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and flamenco rhythms, all blended with the usual dose of high energy horns, fiery percussion and sing-along choruses," the band posted when the album was originally released.
"A more natural and instrumentally complex album with a specific stylistic world that we dug into in a really deep way. There are some classic Empire sounds, and also what we hope are some surprising new colours, all wrapped up in Felix's enigmatic songwriting style. We hope you love it!"
