Slated to be developed into a high rise for student accomodation when its current lease expires in June, Newcastle's iconic live music venue The Cambridge is "going out with a bang" after servicing the local community for 50-plus years.

The Cambridge Hotel Farewell Festival will be staged across three nights (23-25 June) with headliners Illy (Friday), Peking Duk (Saturday), and Grinspoon (Sunday).

The Friday night hip hop leg will also feature 360, Drapht, JK-47, Seth Sentry and Thundamentals. The Saturday evening presents a slew of electronic and indie acts including Adam Newling, Jack River, Northeast Party House and The Rubens.

Then for the Sunday finale, Grinspoon will be joined by some of the finest rock and punk exponents including British India, Dune Rats, Polish Club, Press Club and The Smith Street Band as well as local legends Gooch Palms (who are reforming for a one-off appearance).

The venue's honour roll includes internationals such as The Black Keys, Blink-182, Childish Gambino, Evermore, The Misfits, NOFX and Unwritten Law as well as Aussie royalty like Archie Roach, Birds Of Tokyo, Bliss N Eso, Gang Of Youths, The Grates, Karnivool, Kate Miller-Heidke, Matt Corby, The Presets, Sarah Blasko, Silverchair, Sticky Fingers, Tame Impala and Violent Soho.

With capacity limited to 3,500 lucky punters each day, don't hold back for last-minute tickets as this event is sure to sell out quickly.
