The Black Seeds Perth Review @ Metropolis

The Black Seeds played Metropolis (Perth) 11 November, 2017.

Passion and energy between The Black Seeds band members and a generous list of hits made for an electric show in Fremantle (11 November), particularly from Barnaby Weir and Daniel Weetman fronting the group on vocals and percussion.

Opening with their hit ‘Cool Me Down’ from 'Into The Dojo', The Black Seeds served us their best; a musical feast for the soul, their sound evolving over the years into their latest deep grooves.

I noticed I wasn’t alone in enjoying the rich menu of sounds; the diverse crowd, young and old, barely stopped dancing all night.

After listening to their recently released album, 'Fabric', nothing compared to sharing the room with them – it really is the ultimate way to experience The Black Seeds.

Their sound is like no other and if you’re a fan of funk, soul and reggae, do yourself a favour and indulge your senses in their new album. Go one better, head to a concert near you.

The eight-member band's 'Fabric' has been five years in the making, arguably their best yet. Performing many of their new tracks including 'Better Days', 'Lightning Strikes', 'Back To You', 'The Weaver', 'Everybody Knows' and 'Ride On', the response from the crowd was electric.

So many new sounds mashed together never sounded so tantalising.

Mixing the night up with classic hits from 'On The Sun', 'Solid Ground', 'Into The Dojo' and 'Dust And Dirt', the crowd went into a frenzy during tracks such as 'Turn It Around' and 'So True'.

Rarely stopping throughout the performance, The Black Seeds kept delivering the beats.

Disappearing from stage toward the end of the night after playing 'Take Your Chances', the crowd chanted for their return and they came back with even more fresh tracks before ending with 'So True'.

'Fabric'. Vinyl. That’s where I’m headed.
