The Best or Worst Soundwave Line-up Ever?

Sleepwave

Did you know The Prodigy were originally proposed to headline Soundwave 2015 Festival? They moved over to the Future Music Festival—where they are better suited. Well, that’s one of the rumours I heard along the line.

Is 2015 going to be the worst Soundwave in history? Or, do you think it's a f'n awesome line-up? I’m fanging for it. I love metal festivals. Heck, I’ve traveled the world to attend some of the biggest, and I will do it again and again. Europe has many huge rock and metal festivals, some run for three hardcore days. Australia only has one major metal festival—but it’s a ripper and I am stocked we have it especially now that it is spread over two whole days.

Is the 2015 line-up perfect for me? No-way. In life there are no absolutes and to expect the 'perfect line-up' you would have to be off your rocker. You can’t expect the promoters to bring out only the artists in your own personal iTunes catalogue. Hell, if I had my way, the line-up would consist of mostly classic, progressive and thrash metal acts.

For me Soundwave is not only a chance to enjoy 'my bands' but it’s a great opportunity to discover a heap of new acts, which I have never heard before, check them out on YouTube during the months leading up to the festival and get pumped about seeing what they can bring to a live show. I’ve already discovered some beauties. English band, The Treatment, has been occupying my speakers with their hard rocking attitude along side American based, alternative metal band, Godsmack (seriously, how did I miss these guys earlier!?), and soul soothing Finnish metal orchestra, Apocalyptica. I'm keen to discover even more gems which I’m sure lay within the list  below.

Now that the second line-up announcement has finally been announced, not before a couple of reassessments, prolonging my agony, we have 15 new additions to the already super bill: Killer Be Killed, Dragonforce, Animals As Leaders, Lower Than Atlantis, Nonpoint, Bayside, The Devil Wears Prada, Fucked Up, He Is Legend, Le Butcherettes, One Ok Rock, Twin Atlantic, The Wonder Years, Sleepwave and Evergreen Terrace.

I’ve known Killer Be Killed were on the list for some weeks and have been very stoked to know it. If you are unfamiliar with them, you should check out the self titled album. AJ Maddah (promoter) and other industry types have called them a “supergroup”—which I think is a bit of an overstatement to be honest. But, none-the-less they are no fly-by-night boy band and they do know how to rock real hard. Oh, it's good stuff and they will be a blast to see live on a big stage. I predict Killer Be Killed will fit in just nicely under the headlining acts. The band features Soulfly/ex-original-Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, The Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato, Mastodon bassist Troy Sanders and drummer Dave Elitch of The Mars Volta.

There still seems to be a big hole next to the Slipknot logo on the promotional posters. For a while I thought that Slash or Marilyn Manson would move up to fill the gap, left by the Prodigy (possibly), but they've each remained the runners-up.

Is there another massive headliner still to be announced? Could it be Iron Maiden, Metallica, Led Zepplin? Ok, slap me now. But seriously, it feels like something big is coming and I’m trusting my gut on this one.

What will the pending third, and final, announcement bring us? Do you think the current line-up is sufficient to keep you occupied for two days? If not, who would you want added to Soundwave 2015?
