The Angels are going for broke on their upcoming national tour.
The Aussie pub-rock legends, still going strong for five-plus decades and counting, will celebrate their past, present and future on their none-date winter run.The tour will feature John Brewster, Rick Brewster, Sam Brewster, Tom Brewster and Nick Norton, visiting every corner of the mainland, with headline gigs in Torquay, Melbourne, Fremantle, Perth, Sydney, Hunter Valley, and Brisbane throughout July before a hometown show in Adelaide early August.
"Last year was really special," rhythm guitarist John Brewster says, "and that was down to all our fans who made the 50 Not Out tour one to remember. But I really feel this is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for The Angels."
The upcoming shows will feature all the classics: 'Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again', 'No Secrets', 'Take A Long Line', 'Shadow Boxer', 'Marseilles', 'Comin' Down and 'We Gotta Get Out Of This Place', as well as a few deeper cuts from their back catalogue.
Despite notching their 50th birthday in 2024, The Angels are still chugging along with new material evidenced by their 14th studio album, last year's 'Ninety Nine' that includes the single 'Ninety Nine (Go For Broke)' and 'Heartbeats'.
"It refers to the fact that 99 per cent of us have to accept our lot, while the one per cent take the lion's share," singer Nick Norton explains, who wrote the song with bass player Sam Brewster. "The super-rich are richer than they've ever been."
"We've found a new energy," continues Sam Brewster. While Rick Brewster adds: "The band is really powering, and we can feel the energy from the audience. We love our hardcore fans, but we're also blown away by how many young people are at the shows."
