To celebrate the release of their upcoming EP, 'One Long Breath', Gold Coast band Taylor have announced three launch shows throughout South-East Queensland.
Recorded live to tape in Melbourne alongside producer George Carpenter, Taylor are thrilled with the outcome. “I wanted to record to tape, which I've never had the luxury to do before,” Taylor's vocalist and guitarist, David Taylor says.
“I also wanted to capture the sound of the band live. I'm really thrilled with the way it sounds. I felt like we captured the energy of the band, the songs and the room that we recorded in.
“It took a lot of rehearsing back on the Coast to get it to that point where you're confident to walk in and [only] do a couple of takes. I was happy with it when we recorded it on the day and then I was even more thrilled when we got the masters back from the States and had a listen to them.
“It's kind of exciting to be able to get [these songs] out and hopefully get some cool shows. I'm absolutely stoked with what we were able to achieve.”
To support the November release, Taylor are hitting the road for a 'One Long Breath' launch tour with Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast shows. David explains the band are looking forward to their intimate show in Brisbane.
“The Brisbane show will be really cool because it's a smaller venue. The Junk Bar has a really good vibe. It's more of an album preview for just friends and family.
“We're super excited for the Gold Coast show. We've got our good friend Karl Williams playing with us. It's our dream line-up and it [feels] good to have that show on home turf. We'll have the vinyl for sale on the night, so we're pretty excited for that one. We're looking forward to these run of shows.”
Being very excited to play the yet-to-be-released lead single off 'One Long Breath', David hints that fans can look forward to a great night of songwriting.
“I'm definitely looking forward to playing 'Crush Me'. It's the opening track on the EP and we're releasing that single at the same time. We've had that one up our sleeves for a while," he says.
“Really stoked to play all of them but I think 'Crush Me' in particular. It's going to be a really great night of songwriting. People are going to get some stories about the songs and little insight into the recording process.
“We get a nice mix of all music lovers at our shows. I think it's just for anyone whose into storytelling, good songwriting, and anyone who likes a good dose of heavy folk rock. Folks coming to the Gold Coast show will have a full night of songwriting by myself and Karl, along with special guests with a few tricks up their sleeves. Come to the show.”
'One Long Breath' is released 16 November.
