Hypnotically cruisy, the new single from Tash Sultana is 'Sweet & Dandy' – the fifth taste of her second studio album, 'Terra Firma'.
"'Sweet & Dandy' is about the process of withdrawing yourself from negative distractions and living in the present, always remembering that you are enough," Tash explains."You and you alone, you do not need the world to tell you to be a certain way."
Three years removed from her debut album 'Flow State', which won Tash an ARIA Award for Best Blues and Roots Album, 'Terra Firma' is a record created after Tash took time away from her hectic schedule generated after the whirlwind success 'Flow State' achieved.
Focused on self-reflection and finding time to do the things she wanted (surfing, studio, family, gardening) married to a concerted effort to better balance her touring lifestyle, Tash says the material for 'Terra Firma' comes from a "peaceful place".
"I didn't realise that I needed to create a space and home for myself to feel like a person again," Tash says.
"I just went inward and found a really peaceful place and wrote an album, and I feel really happy with it."
'Terra Firma' is released 19 February. Pre-order it.
Tash Sultana plays WOMADelaide's 2021 Sunset Concerts series at King Rodney Park (Adelaide) on 7 March.
