Sydney's Marrickville Town Hall To Be Converted Into A Live Music, Performing Arts Centre

Marrickville Town Hall
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

In a win for local, live music and independent art in Sydney's inner west, the heritage-listed Marrickville Town Hall will become a live music venue.

The Inner West Council voted to convert the space, located at 96-106 Marrickville Road, into a live music and performing arts centre.

The renovation work (start date tba) will take place in consultation with multicultural communities.

Almost a century old, the Marrickville Town Hall was opened on 11 February 1922, the crowning glory of Marrickville Council's Diamond Jubilee.

The site once was a market garden and nursery owned by Joseph Graham, mayor of Marrickville Council a record 9 times between 1868 and 1894.
