More than just a market place, the Sydney Rock 'n' Roll & Alternative Festival has become a space to not only score yourself some retro alternative threads but tune into a high-energy frenzy of sounds across the ska, rockabilly, punk and garage rock genres.
Set to celebrate their 10th anniversary next month, the Festival have arranged a monster day of activities on 20 March at The Factory Theatre that will feature four stages of entertainment headlined by Newcastle ska-punk legends The Porkers ('Swinging Like Tiger Woods' and 'Schooners Of The Black').Ska, rocksteady and reggae super-band The Rocksteady Ratpack (featuring members of The Allniters, Club Ska, The Porkers, Backy Skank, Steppin Razor and The OzSkas) and the astro-themed rockabilly of helmet-heads Men Into Space will also take to the stage.
As will roots-rockabilly guitarist Pat Capocci, jazz meets jump blues outfit Miss Pia & The Dovetails and neo-rockabilly, surf guitar trio The Hellcat III; burlesque champion Ginger Foxx will also make an appearance.
Punk-rock legends X, psycho-blues-a-billy techno freaks White Knuckle Fever, '60-'70s inspired garage rockers Jupiter 5 and high-octane post-punk outfit Rubbernecker will make the The I-94 Bar stage their own.
A third stage ('60s theme) located in The Fusebox will host DJ troupe The Crimplenes, power-pop garage rockers The On and Ons, the return of garage rockers The Intercontinental Playboys, garage-punk outfit Flippin' Kick Outs and indie psych-mods The Smart Folk.
An outdoor stage will witness honky-tonk rockabilly rebels Cruisin’ Deuces, dirty surf trash twang quartet Los Monaros serenading punters as they fossick through the fab wares of some of the best traders from the Sydney Rock 'n' Roll & Alternative Market.
