One of the biggest multicultural gatherings in Melbourne, The Sydney Road Street Party kicks of the 2013 Brunswick Music Festival from March 13 to 24.
This genuine all-ages event celebrates peace, understanding and cultural diversity with a day of live music, song, dance, kids shows, street theatre, plus culinary delights from around the globe with over 120 arts, craft, food and market stalls.
Acts performing at the Sydney Road Street Party include The Elliotts, Toot Toot Toots, Mighty Duke and the Lords, Francolin, The Harpoons, Mandy Connell Trio, Phoenix Brass, Sounds of Polynesia, Tango Collusion Duo, Azura’s Bellydance, Bohemian Nights, Monica Weightman Band, LABJACD, Bart Willoughby band, Sol Nation, The Afrobiotics, Andrea Marr Band, Heather Stewart Band, Deep Street Soul, Monique Brumby, Abbie Cardwell and the Chicano Rockers, Collard, Greens and Gravy, as well as a children's stage and roaming street entertainment.
The Brunswick Music Festival celebrates 25 years with a mini-retrospective of some of their favourite artists from their first festival. Australia’s only inner city festival of folk, roots and world music, with a vibrant twenty-eight concert program spread across five venues that captures the area’s eclectic, dynamic flavour.
The world-class program includes irish folk greats Andy Irvine, Paul Brady, Finbar Furey, Greek legend Apodimi Compania and many other International acts, joined by Australian singer-songwriters Archie Roach and Eric Bogle, Brunswicks own icon The Cartridge Family and Melbourne's slice of the mediterranean, Meyhane.
