After winning the 2017 WAM Song Of The Year, Sydnee Carter is back on the scene with the Perth singer-songwriter announced to showcase at Australian Music Week in Sydney this November.
Over the last year, Sydnee has been exploring her singing and songwriting style and growing as an artist. At just 20-years-old, Sydnee displays an attitude and grounding way beyond her years.
After emerging as a teenager when videos of her on 'X-Factor' went viral, the artist is really coming into her own.
“I wanted to mature my content. It has been a lot of me trying to figure out myself, rather than changing into someone new. It’s hard sometimes to want to change whilst still being me. It has been more about growth and growing,” she says.
Sydnee has also been busy touring with her new band and collaborating with other artists. “It’s a completely different experience travelling with the band. I went from it being just me in my bedroom to me and my guitar covering other songs, and now hearing things evolve with me, a guitarist, bass player, a keyboard and drums, it’s just crazy,” Sydnee explains.
After being announced as one of the first thirty artists for this year’s Australian Music Week, she is excited to head over to Sydney with her band. “I’m so excited, it’s going to be the best. It’s something completely different.
“To go over east and get exposure to a completely different kettle of fish and be across a broad variety of genres and acts, it’s a super-good way to network and meet other people, and I’m just so excited to get over there.”
